Dear Beloved Community,
As we bid farewell to the 2023 year, we are grateful to reflect on the success, partnerships, and milestones that have defined our collective journey. Join us in highlighting the year in review and what we have in store for 2024. In February, we hosted our 19th Annual Black History Celebration with acclaimed scholar, author, and speaker Dante King to highlight the theme “Walking in Freedom; You Can't Deny the Truth About History”. In March, to honor Harriet Tubman’s birthday, we hosted our 10th Annual Phenomenal Women’s event in partnership with Black Women’s Media & Wellness Project. Entitled, “Women Walking in Purpose”, it featured extraordinary guest panelists like Marlene Sanchez, Executive Director at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, Anita Russell, Community Development Manager at Working Solutions, and Talia Benet, Executive Director at Health and Human Resource Education Center. In June, we celebrated our premiere Juneteenth 2023 16th Annual Oakland Juneteenth Street Festival & Celebration; bringing together the diversity of Oakland in gathering 200+ community members, leaders, performers, and vendors under the theme of “Ain’t No Stoppin' Us Now, We Must Leave A Legacy For Our People”. Thank you tremendously to our sponsors; we are blessed to have your ongoing support! In November, we hosted our Womens Spa Day 8th Annual Women Inspiring Women Spa Day & Be Still Retreat, “Harvesting Your Transition, with No Limits” in partnership with Black Women's Media & Wellness Project. With over 150 women in attendance, our various healing stations- live massage, planting seeds, affirmation creation, and sister circle created safe spaces for women to relax, connect, and empower one another! In 2024, we are committed to supporting local businesses like the Joyce Gordon Gallery and the West Oakland Youth Center. We will continue to foster meaningful partnerships that uplift the community and empower the next generation of leaders. We will courageously center the history, voices, minds, and works of our brothers and sisters from across the globe. Together, we amplify the richness and diversity of beautiful minds everywhere and hope you will continue to join us in creating a legacy of impact, unity, and cultural celebration. As we wrap up this remarkable year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for being an integral part of the B-H Brilliant Minds Project Inc. Community.
